Jacob DeShazer was a farm boy from Oregon who joined the army Air Corps and became a bombardier. He participated in the famous Doolittle Raid over Japan shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After completing the mission, his plane ran out of fuel, and he was captured and kept as a prisoner of war for 40 months. He later became a Christian missionary in Japan.
